I wrote this song about my first love and the first relationship that my codependency tore apart. It is still difficult for me to sing since it is all wrapped up in the biggest regret and heartbreak of my life. It was a song I needed to write.

Lyrics

I’ve been walking in the place where we were children
Trying not to cry for what we lost
‘Cuz I know that it won't be fulfilling
The sorrow that I'm feeling is the cost
Of taking all your love for granted
And letting myself ride
Down the road empty handed
With you by my side
You and I were far too young to know we had to change
Until you up and did it, freed yourself from pain

I'm not looking for forgiveness
I gave that up long ago
Still my love for you is endless
But I leaned over a cliff ‘cuz I knew that you
Would not let me go

I can't stop thinking about the last time that I saw you
You were trying to catch my eye
And like a flock of birds when a gunshot cracks the silence
I flew away, I couldn’t say goodbye
The last time that you spoke to me
You called me a fool
It was true but now i'm playing
By some different rules
I don't wanna hurt nobody the way that I hurt you
I know it doesnt help to hear it but it’s still true

I'm not looking for forgiveness
I gave that up long ago
Still my love for you is endless
But I leaned over a cliff cuz I knew that you would not let me go
And then you let me go
